A Variety of Entertainers...Jessie Rajala Chapin Seventies, Folk, Jazz, Celtic, Gospel, Old Country—variety is the spice of life (after garlic of course)! Originally from Spokane, WA, Jessie Rajala Chapin has been loving life in the Cariboo for three years and hails from just south of beautiful McLeese Lake. Jessie studied voice at Prairie Bible College in Three Hills, AB after which she spent four and a half adventurous years in Fort Smith, NT. It was there that she had a chance to bloom as a solo artist as well as complete a recording of her own compositions (available for sale at the festival). Jessie’s music reflects her faith, her varied tastes in style and genre, and her gift for the artful expression of story through song. When she’s not strumming a guitar, Jessie teaches voice lessons and enjoys the company of her husband, two small children and their ever-changing menagerie of animals.
Vern JohnsonVern has been entertaining people for years with a variety of music which includes rock, folk, contemporary, and traditional...something for everyone!
Vern's performing career began at the age of 7, and he has appeared in places all the way from Whistler to Australia to New Zealand. There was a short 20 year break from music, but Vern had a young son who wanted to learn how to play guitar, and the rest is history.
The South Cariboo is fortunate to have Vern as a permanent resident willing to share his great music with everyone.
Leanne LamourWell known Rossland entertainer Leanne Lamour has toured extensively bringing her upbeat contemporary and traditional style of music to festivals and stages for many years. An original Canadian artist with a rootsy Canadian sound, philisophical lyrics with simple tunes based on celtic, jazz and blues traditions, Leanne became involved with the South Cariboo Garlic Festival five years ago and has done double duty as both performer and Master of Ceremonies.
Candace ThibeaultThe contemporary folk style of Candace Thiebault has been delighting audiences in the 100 Mile House area for a few years now. Our first Cariboo Idol, Candace is an excellent example of why the classic coffee house musician has remained so popular. We are once again happy to have Candace gracing our stage as our Saturday evening dinner hour performer.
One of the entertainment groups for this year is an old-time Bluegrass band!
We will also be featuring 4 groups of Square Dancers: The Stampede Whirlaways, Lac La Hache Cariboosters, Lac La Hache Swingers, and the 100 Mile Twirlers will be showing us how it's done!
Rob Fry of New Age Entertainment will be the Host of the main stage, and he will be a busy guy this year! Local entertainer Art Dumaresq will be performing his style of "Rockabilly" music.
